Vivo Energy Links to Jubilee Exposed

Senator Mike Sonko may already be blundering in terms of how to maintain relations within the corporate world following his selection of Polycarp Igathe as his running mate in the 2017 Nairobi gubernatorial.
Vivo Energy was faced with an immediate backlash from the Consumer Federation of Kenya (COFEK) who took the opportunity to remind them of their corporate misdemeanors through the hash tag #BoycottVivoEnergy.
Management of the company are stilly panicking that Sonko’s previous remarks about receiving free fuel for his Sonko Rescue Team may expose their long relationship with the Jubilee administration while they hoped to maintain a neutral political image of any government in power.

Nonetheless that simple slip of the tongue has exposed how Igathe’s relationship as a presidential advisor on energy had secured KES 2 Billon for the Jubilee presidential campaign. The company was however jittery as to how the money would be spent.
Once presented with the opportunity of Igathe as deputy governor, the company saw a way to embed their man so as to monitor the effective utilization of their contribution. Vivo Energy also took the opportunity to maintain their relationship with the Jubilee administration on the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) project.
Other than its official interests, the company had acquired business to supply fuel for trucks during the SGR construction through the China Roads and Bridges Construction Company. It also provided branded vehicles which were used by Jubilee during the launch of its headquarters and the party nominations.
The interests of Vivo Energy, State House and the Sonko-Igathe ticket merge in relation to the fact that the company is angling to get strategic locations in the city to set up new petrol stations. Sonko’s extortionist talents are therefore going to come in hand in acquisition of plots.

Meanwhile Igathe is set to maintain SGR interests as the project moves into the next phase by keeping Sonko involved with local Vivo Energy business interests in their Nairobi acquisition plan.
